Information for MSHSL ADs and Coaches

Need to add, cancel, or change a game?

As of May 1, almost all regular season games have officials assigned. However, nearly every available official is assigned each day so very few options remain for adding a game.

Currently, we know we have officials available on the following date and time combinations:

  • Saturday, May 15 - late afternoon or evening

  • Saturday, May 22 - late afternoon or evening

  • Friday, May 28

Please use our game request form (link) if any schedule changes are needed. Requests to add or reschedule games will be put in Arbiter but, at this time, no guarantee can be made that officials will be available.

Fees and policies can be found in the 2021 UMLOA Officials Fees and Policies document (link)

  • Varsity pay rate for 2021 is $81 per official (3 officials unless only 2 available)

  • JV pay rate is $56 per official (2 officials unless 3 are requested and available)

  • Policies for payment when games are canceled or suspended can be found in the linked document

  • Some schools must pay travel fees for officials traveling significant distance (often times we must ask officials to travel 50, 100, or even 150 miles to work a game). Travel fees are described in the linked document

The UMLOA has collected schedules and entered them into ArbiterSports.com (link)

  • All ADs, Coaches, and AD Assistants can have access to the schedule and see which officials are assigned to games - if someone needs access please email the request to umloa.assignor@gmail.com

  • The AD, Coach, or AD assistant is expected to check Arbiter Sports to ensure their schedule and contact information is accurate

  • If there are any issues with the schedule in Arbiter, please fill out our game request form (link).

Assigning

  • The UMLOA has a team of assigners: Matt Dempsey, Brad Scibak, Jon Day, and Chris Larson. Also helping assign are Trevor Sundquist in Duluth and Northeast Minnesota and Terry Miller in the Moorhead area.

  • If you need help regarding assigning, it is best to use the umloa.assignor@gmail.com address. Email sent there will be seen by all assigners.
